Garden Grove Tree Service for Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa is a city in Orange County that was established in 1953 and has 117,000 residents.  It's a city with an even mix of light manufacturing, commercial, and retail businesses as well as residential properties.  The city is 17 square miles and borders South Coast Plaza and John Wayne Airport.  Since it's only 1 mile from the ocean, the temperatures remain consistent and mild throughout the year.

Starting as a small town named Harper, after a local rancher, Costa Mesa changed its name in 1920 and was a farming community until the late 1920s.  Building and oil exploration enterprises were gaining a foothold when the great depression hit and industries completely failed and local banks closed.  Even more local pain was felt when a large tremor in 1933 hit the Southern California area further damaging businesses and the Main School.  The school was rebuilt and is still in use today for school administrative and services.

World War II incentivized a large number of individuals to move to the area while training at the Santa Ana Army Air Base, situated on what is now occupied by the Orange County Fairgrounds, the Orange Coast College, and the current site of the Civic Center. At the conclusion of the war, a considerable number of those involved in the war effort permanently relocated with their families. The great weather and employment opportunities fueled the area's growth which still is occurring today.

Costa Mesa incorporated on June 29, 1953, when a City Council/Manager government system was put into place. With only 17,000 people and a 3.5 square miles, Costa Mesa was a quiet Southern California city. Today the city is 17 square miles and has 117,000 inhabitants. and is a big commercial and industrial center of Orange County.  It's home to the Pacific Symphony, the South Coast Repertory Theater, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and the Orange County Fair.

Costa Mesa has abandoned its calm rural community persona with profound farming and oil exploration roots to a world-class city, highlighting some of the best cafés, retail shops, and cultural arts in the country, as well as being the hub of the action sports community.
